Not good. The disastrous tsunami of Dec 26 will have a major impact throughout 2005 and for years to come.
For those still waiting for news of friends and family members it's a desparate time. One thing that is coming through - from both media reports and personal comments on the web - is the gratitude of tourist survivors for the help and kindness of local people, who, of course, have lost homes and loved ones themselves.
Too early to tell, but could be we're seeing real solidiarity developing in the face of loss and devasation.
Whatever comes of this, donate whatever you can to whichever charity or aid agency in your part of the world that's working to relieve the suffering.
